Cultivating the fruit

Cacaofruit trees grow in the hot and humid regions that surround the Equator. Once ripe, the colourful fruits are harvested by hand and opened. The seeds are removed together with the fresh white flesh around them and used to craft this delicious chocolate.

Upcycling the whole cacaofruit

About 14 million tons of cacaofruit are harvested around the world each year to craft chocolate. Until now, only the seeds of the cacaofruit are used to make chocolate, and the remaining 10 million tons of cacaofruit are discarded as waste.


As of 2021, WholeFruit chocolate reverses this practice by upcycling the otherwise wasted -but totally delicious and nutritious-fruit. With its zesty, fruity, and unique taste, each bite of WholeFruit chocolate contains at least 40% less sugar than typical chocolates.

The most effective solution to climate change is preventing food waste

About 30% of food, 50% of fruits and vegetables and 70% of cacaofruit goes to waste. The world's leading resource for ranking climate solutions, Project Drawdown, concluded that preventing food waste is the number one most effective solution to global warming.


More than a quarter of arable land, and more than a fifth of fresh water, is used to create food that is wasted.


Eight percent of all human-caused greenhouse gas emissions are attributed to food waste. Upcycled food reduces food waste by creating new, high quality food products out of otherwise wasted ingredients.
